What financial support usually looks like
Support for international medical students in Bangladesh, where it exists, generally takes one of a few forms: a concession on tuition offered directly by a college, an instalment structure that spreads payments, or occasional government or institutional schemes with their own eligibility criteria.
Full scholarships covering the entire cost of an MBBS course for international students are uncommon. Treat any claim of one with real scepticism until you have seen it in an official document from the institution itself.
Concession schemes change frequently and vary by college and session. Publishing a number we have not verified would be exactly the behaviour this site exists to avoid. Ask us for the current position at the specific college you are considering.
How to check whether an offer is genuine
Run any offered concession through these checks before it influences your decision.
- Is it in writing, on college letterhead, signed? A verbal promise or a message from an intermediary is not an offer.
- Does it name conditions? Genuine concessions usually specify eligibility, duration and what would cause them to be withdrawn.
- Does it apply for all six years, or only year one? This distinction is worth lakhs.
- Is it conditional on academic performance? If so, what exactly happens if you miss the threshold?
- Can you verify it with the college directly, using contact details you found yourself rather than ones you were given?
- Does accepting it require an immediate payment? Urgency attached to a discount is a classic pressure technique.
Warning signs
Some things should stop a conversation entirely.
- A "scholarship" that requires a processing fee to claim
- A concession offered only if you pay a large amount within days
- An offer that exists only in a chat message and cannot be confirmed with the college
- A discount presented alongside a promise of guaranteed admission or a guaranteed seat
- Pressure not to contact the college directly to verify
- Any suggestion that eligibility requirements can be worked around
